Bill Cooper spent more than 40 years in broadcast news, the last few years being in radio news in Portland, Oregon. He was with KEX Radio in Portland when he was presented with the opportunity to witness an execution. Mr. Cooper had certainly covered many heinous murders over the years of his work in radio, yet he had never covered an execution until 1996, when he was a media witness at the execution of Douglas Wright. On April 1, 2023 I met with Bill Cooper in Beaverton, Oregon to learn more about his experience as a witness at the 1996 Wright execution.
