After Kevin Johnson was given the death penalty in Missouri, Dr. Pam Stanfield reached out to him and became a support to him during his time on death row. Dr. Stanfield had been Kevin Johnson's elementary school principal and remembered him fondly as a sweet child during his elementary school years. Dr. Stanfield and Kevin Johnson developed a close friendship during his incarceration and at the time of his execution, he asked her to be there to witness his execution. Dr. Pam Stanfield is seen in the above picture with Kevin Johnson and his daughter Khorry Ramey. On May 20, 2023, I met with Dr. Stanfield in Chesterfield, Missouri to interview her about her experience serving as a witness to Kevin Johnson's execution. She recalled the details of her friend's execution as highly traumatizing.
