Kim Attridge (now Kim Dilworth) was working as an investigative Reporter at KOLD-TV, in Tucson, Arizona in 1996 when she witnessed the execution of Daren Lee Bolton. At age 29, Bolton was executed less than four years after he was convicted of the 1986 kidnapping and murder of 2 1/2-year-old Zosha Lee Pickett. Though Bolton had many more avenues of appeal left, he volunteered to die, saying he would prefer death over life in prison. Kim Attridge Dilworth left Arizona, eventually traveling to Oregon where she worked as a television news reporter in Portland at KATV and abroad, as well as a media specialist and PR Director. Ms. Dilworth has recently retired and currently resides in Oregon City, Oregon. On April 6, 2023 I traveled to her home in Oregon City to interview her about her experience as a witness as she reflected upon the observations and insights that she has about the execution of Daren Lee Bolton in 1996.
